Pioneer Women's Hoops Release 2004-05 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, CT (September 16, 2004) -The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team released its 27-game schedule today that features a challenging slate of out-of-conference opponents along with the traditional Northeast Conference match-ups.
The Pioneers tip-off the 2004-05 season with two road games, starting on Friday, November 19th when they travel up I-95 to face the Yale University Bulldogs. SHU will then venture out to Big-12 country and take on the University of Kansas Jayhawks on Wednesday, November 24th.
The home portion of the schedule opens on Tuesday, November 30th with the Rider University Broncs paying a visit to the William H. Pitt Center. The Pioneers finished last season a perfect 14-0 and have won 18-straight regulars season home games dating back to the 2002-03 season.
The non-conference schedule also features first-time meetings with Hofstra University (12/11), the University of Richmond (12/18) and Syracuse University (12/28). Two games versus Ivy League teams wrap-up non-league play as SHU will travel to Columbia on December 8th and host Brown University on January 3rd.
The team opens the Northeast Conference portion of the schedule on December 4th on the road at Mount St. Mary's University. The Pioneers will play each of the other ten schools in the NEC twice, with the exception of Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner that they will play just once. The first two rounds of this year's NEC Tournament will be played on March 5th and 8th with the championship game slated for March 12th. Each game in this year's tournament will be played at the site of the higher seed.
