Fairfield, CT - Sophomore Carisa Eye (Nesconset, NY) scored two goals and senior Ashley Del Greco (Merrimack, NH) made seven saves in goal as the Pioneers held off Yale, 3-2, in field hockey action Wednesday night at Johnson Field.

Rachel Lentz put the Bulldogs on the board first with her fourth goal of the season 6:46 into the game. Lentz took a centering pass from Harriet Thayer and fired a shot past Del Greco into the back of the goal.

The Pioneers tied the game three minutes later when senior Colleen Carney (Yorktown Heights, NY) converted on a penalty corner attempt. Carney took an entry pass from junior Leah Stoehr (Hummelstown, PA) and shot a ball which got deflected by a Yale defender and found its way past Bulldogs goaltender Emily Friedlander. It was Carney's sixth goal of the season.

The game reamined tied well into the second half until Eye got herself on the scoresheet six minutes into the second stanza. Eye's game winning goal was set up by sophomore Melissa Mazin (Putnam Valley, NY).

Less then three minutes later, at the 44:26 mark, Eye scored her second of the night off a pass from junior Danielle Vasely (Hopewell Junction, NY). With her two goals, Eye extended her nation-leading goal total to 19.

Cat Lindroth scored for the Bulldogs with 6:13 left in the game but Del Greco was able to hold off the Yale attack from there to perserve the Pioneers fifth straight victory.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday afternoon when they welcome NEC rival Quinnipiac to Campus Field. Game time is 4:00 pm.
