SHU's Maggie Cosgrove Named Choice Hotels / NEC Rookie of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (November 26, 2007) - Sacred Heart freshman Maggie Cosgrove (Andover, MA) was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Cosgrove becomes the first Pioneer rookie to pick up the award since Amanda Pape during the 2003-04 season.
Cosgrove made her second career start at point guard in Sacred Heart's lone game of the week, a 70-52 victory over Binghamton. The freshman guard broke out with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes of play en route to the win. All 12 of Cosgrove's points came from behind the arc as part of a 4-of-5 three-point shooting clip.
For the season, the freshman is avaraging 4.8 points while hitting a team-best 42.9% from behind the arc (6-14).
Cosgrove and the rest of the Pioneers will be back in action on Wednesday night hosting the Albany Great Danes.
