Final Stats

Newton, MA - Boston College scored a season-high nine goals en route to posting a 9-1 win over Sacred Heart in field hockey action Sunday. Junior Amy Hendricks (Milford, PA) scored the Pioneers only goal.

BC started the scoring off early when sophomore Chelsey Feole netted a goal in the second minute of the game off a pass from senior midfielder Caitlyn Young. Young pushed the ball up on a breakaway. As Pioneers goalkeeper Kristen McIntire (Avon, CT) came out, Young dished to Feole for the score.

Junior forward Bob Dirks scored her first goal of the game with 5:47 left in the first half. Feole directed a pass to the top of the circle where Dirks found the back of the net.

The Eagles did not allow the Pioneers a shot in the first half. McIntire made 12 saves in the half to keep the Pioneers close. The junior made 17 stops in all in the game.

Boston College went on a scoring spree in the second half. Dirks netted her second goal of the game on a shot from high on the circle in the 53rd minute. She then assisted junior midfielder Michelle Tavener's first goal of the game less than a minute later. Forty-seven seconds elapsed before Anctil notched her second goal of the game off her own rebound.

Sophomore forward Caitlyn Buckanavage recorded her second goal of the season on a pass from Dirks in the 66th minute. Tavener scored her second of the day three minutes later off her own rebound.

Sacred Heart was able to get on the board as time wound down in the game. On its sixth and final corner, senior Leah Stoehr (Hummelstown, PA) dished to Hendricks for the score.

The Pioneers are back in action Wednesday when they visit Brown. Game time is 4:00 pm.
