Visiting Manhattan College pounded out 17 hits and took advantage of seven walks and three errors to beat Sacred Heart 14-6 on Wedneaday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Shortstop Ruben Perez had three hits for the Jaspers, 15-15-1, including a double and his second homer of the season. He drove in three runs. Marc Giordano had a pair of hits and his fourth homer of the year, while driving in four runs.
Sophomore Mike Drowne started on the mound for the Pioneers and allowed six earned runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings. He also walked five batters. Kyle Waddell went the first four, blanking the Pioneers on three hits.
Freshman Chris Whittemore had three of the 14 Pioneer hits, including an RBI double. Shortstop Phil Tantillo had a pair of hits and an RBI.
SHU will be in action again this weekend when they play a four-game series against Mount St. Mary's at home starting Friday at 3 p.m.
