Field Hockey Drops Decision at Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT - Ashley McCauley notched a hat trick as her as the Yale field hockey team ran off seven unanswered goals to down visiting Sacred Heart 7-1 Friday afternoon.

Sacred Heart, 0-3, got the first goal of the game when Chelsea Carlson fed Stephanie Fazio for a tally just 1:04 into the contest.

Yale, 1-0, evened the score at the 10:58 mark on a shot by Mary Beth Barham, with an assist from Katie Cantore. Cantore also had a helper on a goal by Maddy Sharp at 17:39 that gave the Bulldogs the lead. McCauley scored her first less than a minute later to give Yale a 3-1 lead at the intermission. Yale outshot the Pioneers 19-2 in the period.

McCauley completed her hat trick, with an assist from Sharp, at 54:24.

The Pioneers will be in action again Sunday afternoon when they face Northwestern at Yale.
