
Pioneer Swimmers Sunk by Bryant

SMITHFIELD, RI (January 27, 2010) - The Sacred Heart University swimming team lost to Bryant, 165-94, Wednesday evening. Junior Katie Marshall (Cumberland, RI) finished first in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle. In the 200, she hit the wall in 2:00.73 and completed the 500 in 5:24.40.
Marshall also swam the third leg of the 400-yard medley relay that took first place. The team, consisting of freshmen Meg Bellamy (Barrington, RI), Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, NY), and Juliette Wallerstein (Southbury, CT) finished in 4:10.34.
Wallerstein took second in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle with times of 25.34 and 55.18, respectively. Walters also had two second place finishes. She swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.01 and the 200 in 2:36.93. Bellamy placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.03
Sophomore Meghan Bailey (Walpole, MA) took first place in 200-yard butterfly coming in at 2:14.67. She also placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.00
The Pioneers return to action Friday as they travel to Western Connecticut.
