Box Score (Fairfield, CT) - Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) tied her season best
with 15 saves, but the Rider Broncs used goals by Megan Pisani and
Lindsay Rajeski in a 2-0 win over the Sacred Heart Field Hockey
team Sunday afternoon at Campus Field.
Pisani scored after Rajeski took a shot that Stow initially
stopped, but the Pioneers were unable to clear the circle and
Pisani knocked in the game's first goal at the 42:04
mark. Rajeski added an insurance goal by deflecting a
one-time blast by Virginia Egusquiza, which trickled off the right
goal post and over the goal line after Stow got a piece of the
shot.
Stow stopped all six shots on goal in the first half, making a
number of sparkling saves all afternoon. She made one of her
best on a drive by Rajeski from the top of the circle by
challenging the blast and deflecting it over the cage about eleven
minutes into the game. She made another impressive save on
Egusquiza with about two minutes left in first half, kicking out
the shot with her left pad. Equsquiza peppered six total
shots on goal by herself in the game.
About four minutes into the second, Karly Duven (Freehold, NJ)
nearly scored for the Pioneers, but Rider goalie Rebecca Lotito
layed out to block Duven's rush and shot in the low circle
for one of her two saves on the afternoon.
The Pioneers are next in action when they travel to Robert
Morris Friday, October 22, at 2:00 p.m.
