FAIRFIELD, CT (February 20, 2010) - The Sacred Heart University wrestling team closed out the regular season against Rider University in the Williams H. Pitt Center, Saturday evening. The Pioneers fell to the Broncs 47-6 on "Senior Night".
Red-shirt junior Ricky Eichenlaub won at the 197 lb. weight class by pinning sophomore Tyler Smith 1:26 into the match. Red-shirt senior Michael Hartman was pinned by Rider senior Mike Ward 3:43 into their bout at the 184 lb. weight class. Hartman was in the lead 4-2 after two takedowns.
The Pioneers will take part in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on March 5 and 6 at Rider.
