Fairfield, Conn.—Callan Taylor will go down as one of the best players to put on the Pioneer uniform upon graduation this May, but she already is at the top of heap when it comes to double-doubles among NCAA active players. Taylor has already picked up four double-doubles this season, bringing her career total 42.
The senior collected her first double-double on November 25, 2008 in the Pioneers' home-opener against Lehigh. She lit up the scoreboard with 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the 77-75 loss. Sacred Heart went on to win the Northeast Conference Championship that year.
Taylor recorded No. 42 on the road against Northeast Conference rival Central Connecticut State University. She put up 15 points in the 55-40 win while grabbing 12 rebounds.
"We have been very lucky to have her around the last four years," said Pioneer Head Coach Ed Swanson. "I think she can continue to improve and she'll work at it. She's a worker."
The Overland Park, Kan. native is also nearing the 1,000 career-rebound mark. Heading into tonight's game against Saint Peter's, Taylor has 887 boards and is averaging 10 per game. She will be only the second player in program history to hit the milestone.
