Bridgeport, CT – RIT completed the sweep of the Sacred Heart women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon defeating the Pioneers by a score of 7-2. RIT dictated the play, outshooting SHU 49-13.

The Pioneers were led  by sophomore Casey Stathopoulos (Waltham, MA) and sophomore Natasha Klinoff (Concord, MA), both of whom scored for Sacred Heart.  Klinoff scored at 19:51 in the first period assisted by sophomore Melissa Robbins (Nashua, NH), while Stathopoulos put one in at 9:18 in the second assisted by junior Sara Hanna (Lino Lakes, MN) and sophomore Meaghan Souza (Wilmington, MA). The two goals were the Pioneers' first of the season.

The Tigers put together another nice display of offense on the Pioneers, scoring seven goals on 49 shots. They compiled two power play goals and one shorthanded goal.  Marissa Maugieri scored the game's first goal on a power play at 10:35 in the first, a pass from Emilee Bulleid. Kim Schlattman scored on another power play four minutes later to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Schlattman also scored a shorthanded goal in the second period.  RIT's third goal was scored with less than a minute left in the first period by Casidhe Kunichika to give them a 3-0 lead. Kunichika also scored the last goal of the game at 18:55 in the third period. Ellesha Fortuna and Morgan Scoyne also both scored in the third period to really put away the Pioneers.

The Pioneers look to rebound next weekend when they take on Rhode Island.
