Sacred Heart Falls at Yale, 6-0

NEW HAVEN, CT (September 7, 2013) - The Sacred Heart field hockey team suffered a 6-0 loss on the road at Yale University Saturday afternoon.  The loss is SHU's first on the season as they fall to 2-1.

The Pioneers were outshot by the Bulldogs 29-4 in the loss. Sacred Heart sophomore goalkeeper Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, MO) turned in a career-high 17 saves in the loss.  The Pioneers trailed just 1-0 at the half but the Bulldogs exploded for five second half scores to break the game open.

Yale got goals from six different players on Saturday.  Brooke Gogel, Erica Borgo and Georgia Holland, Gabrielle Garcia and Kelsey Nolan all scored second half goals to lead Yale to the shutout win.  

Sacred Heart is back in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Hofstra.
