Live Stats and Video
Setting the Scene... The Sacred Heart women's basketball team hosts the University of Bridgeport in their first meeting since 1999 Tuesday night at the William H. Pitt Center for the 2014-15 home-opener.
Series Notes... Bridgeport leads the all-time series 21-30
- This is the first time Sacred Heart will face the Purple Knights since moving to Division I in 1999-2000
- The Pioneers and Purple Knights faced each other five times in the NECC Tournament with SHU moving on to the next round just once
- The last time these two teams met on Feb. 17, 1999, Sacred Heart squeezed out the victory, 86-84
Home Court Advantage... Since its opening in 1997, the Sacred Heart women's basketball team has always had success at home in the William H. Pitt Center. Over the past 17 season, the Pioneers boast a 72.6 winning percentage (194-73) when playing at home. Last year, SHU was 9-5 in the Pitt, and opened Northeast Conference play with six-straight home wins.
Second Half Comeback... In 2013-14, Sacred Heart never managed to comeback after trailing at halftime, going 0-12 in when faced with that situation. That streak ended Sunday as the Pioneers staged two comebacks to take home their first opening day victory in three years over the Iona Gaels 82-80. Adaysha Williams led the way in the second period, scoring 11 of her 14 points late in the game, including her final three foul shots that clinched the win.
Hickey's Strong Start... Shelby Hickey shined in the first half of Sunday's season-opener against Iona. The sophomore accounted for 12 of the Pioneers' 38 first-half points and was near perfect from the floor. Going 4-for-5 from the floor, the Littleton, Colo. native landed all four three-
pointers she took.
