Setting the Scene... The 3-0 Sacred Heart women's basketball team takes on the 4-0 Lehigh Mountain Hawks Sunday in a battle to see who will start December undefeated.
Series Notes... This is the ninth time in program history the Pioneers have faced off against Lehigh
- The series is tied 4-4
- Sacred Heart is an even 2-2 at home against Lehigh, and 2-2 when in Bethlehem
- The Pioneers have won the last two meetings against the Mountain Hawks, defeating Lehigh 68-51 at home on November 16, 2011 and on the road 73-63 on December 20, 2012
SHU Against the Patriot League... Sacred Heart is 13-14 all-time against Patriot League opponents.
- Sacred Heart did not face anyone in the Patriot League last season
- Two years ago, SHU went 2-1 against the Patriot League picking up wins over Colgate (59-53) and Lehigh (73-63) before suffering a 61-49 loss to Boston U in the first round of the WNIT
- SHU has face Boston University (0-1), Colgate (3-1), Army (1-4), Bucknell (1-2), Holy Cross (0-1), Lafayette (4-1) and Lehigh (4-4). They have never played American and Navy.
The Head Coaches... Jessica Mannetti took over the Sacred Heart women's basketball program at the start of the 2013-14 season. In her first season with the Pioneers, she led the team to a 12-18 record, including overtime battles with Big East members Villanova and St. John's, and a sixth place finish in the Northeast Conference with a 9-9 league record... Sue Troyan enters the 2014-15 season just one win away from earning her 300th victory. Both Kerry Kinek and Kayla Burton earned All-Patriot League honors during the 2013-14 season in which Lehigh finished with a 13-18 overall record. Troyan led two of her players to academic and athletic Patriot League honors in 2012-13.The 2012-13 squad finished with 14-16 overall and 6-8 Patriot League record.
