Decas And Brown Win Individual Events In Loss At Holy Cross

The Sacred Heart University swim team dropped a 168.5-118.5 decision at The College of Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon and fall to 1-4 on the year. The Pioneers won two relays and had three individual victories on the afternoon.
SHU opened the meet with a first place showing in the 200-yard medley relay. Emily Shenk, Malvina Reinhold, Siobhan Goodman and Jill Crosby swam a time of 1:56.47, 0.4 seconds in front of the Holy Cross relay. Sacred Heart also placed third in the event, with Anna Brown, Julie Pedersen, Katrina Dy and Caleigh Dion touching in a time of 1:59.42.
Olivia Decas captured two individual wins for Sacred Heart on the afternoon, while Brown earned her first collegiate win. Decas had a convincing win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.63, nearly two seconds clear of her teammate, Shenk, who touched in second place. Decas also won the 50-yard freestyle, in a time of 26.13. Brown earned her victory in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:18.36, almost a full second in front of the runner-up.
The Pioneers closed out the meet with two of the top-three times in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Caleigh Dion, Shenk, Crosby and Decas swam to the win at 1:43.91, while Pederson, Brown, Hannah O'Brien and Reinhold were third at 1:49.41.
Sacred Heart is back in action non November 21 when it travels to Manhattan for a dual meet.
