Setting the Scene...
The Sacred Heart women's basketball team rounds out the non-conference slate Saturday as it travel to Villanova in hopes of snapping its four-game losing streak.
Inside the Series...
- This is the fourth meeting between the Pioneers and the Wildcats
- Villanova leads the all-time series 3-0
- Last year, the Wildcats took home the 62-59 win in an overtime battle between the two teams
- Victorious in all three contests, the Wildcats took the first meeting 69-52 against the 2009 NEC Champion Pioneers team, and the next year on Nov. 16, 2009, snagged another W with a 50-49 victory in the William H. Pitt Center
Scouting the Wildcats...
- Villanova snapped a two-game slide with its 70-36 win over La Salle Sunday
- Junior guard Caroline Coyer leads the Wildcats averaging 11.4 points per game
- The Wildcats are second in the Big East holding opponents to an average of 50.8 points per game shooting just .363 from the floor
- Villanova came into the 2014-15 season after posting a 23-9 overall record last season, including going 9-5 in Big East play to finish third in the league
- Head Coach Harry Perretta is now in his 37th year at the helm of the Villanova women's
basketball program. Last year, he led the Wildcats to 23 wins marking the 16th 20-plus win campaign of his career, and Villanova's 12th postseason appearance in the last 15 years
SHU Against the Big East...
- SHU is 2-13 all-time against Big East opponents
- Both of the Pioneers' wins come over Providence College during SHU's Division I era topping the Friars 65-49 during the championship 2005-06 season, and 76-69 the next year
- Sacred Heart is winless against Georgetown (0-3), Marquette (0-2), St. John's (0-1), Seton Hall (0-3) and Villanova (0-3)
- The Pioneers have never played Butler, Creighton, DePaul or Xavier
Williams Is Seeing Double...
Sophomore Adaysha Williams added a double-double to her resume on Wednesday with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Adding to that, she neared a triple-double tying her career-high dishing out seven assists.
SHU On the Road...
The Pioneers opened the season with a pair of road wins over Iona (82-80) and Maine (59-58), clinching both in the final minutes. Since then, Sacred Heart is 0-3 on the road dropping three straight to Brown (66-56), Drexel (61-54) and Hartford (68-63).
