Northeast Conference Winter Meet
Pioneers 5-2 at NEC Winter Meet; Hold onto Second Place

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (December 7, 2014)—The Sacred Heart bowling team remains in second place in the Northeast Conference after going 5-2 at the conference winter meet this weekend at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park, N.J.
SHU's lineup of Sarah Rhodes (Sparta, N.J.), Jayna Tartaglia (Rye Brook, N.Y.), Courtney McGinn (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), Amanda Tyrrell (Selden, N.Y.) and Lauren Hoffman (Monroe Township, N.J.) were extremely consistant throughout the the tournament with each bowler averaging between 190 and 205.
The Pioneers picked up a 966-603 win over newest-NEC associate member Caldwell to open the tournament posting their highest baker-game total of 247 in game 2. SHU then fell in the second match to Fairleigh Dickinson, who is in first place after two NEC meets, 1004-978.
Sacred Heart finished the day with a pair of wins defeating the reigning NEC Champions, Saint Francis U Red Flash, 956-855, and LIU Brooklyn 1017-805.
SHU was off to a good start on Sunday with wins over Kutztown, 918-889, and St. Francis Brooklyn, 990-953, but stumbled in the tournament finale against Adelphi. In a match that saw the Pioneers tally one of their highest marks of the tournament—221 in game 3—and their lowest game—137 in game 4--, SHU came up just short, falling to the Panthers 943-940.
The Pioneers are back in action after winter break at the Terrier New Year Knock Down Jan. 18.
