Mazza Scores in Pioneers' Loss to Norwich

FAIRFIELD, CONN. (October 10, 2015)—Rachel Mazza scored her third try at home to open the second half Saturday as the Sacred Heart women's rugby team fell to Norwich 122-7 on Campus Field.
The Pioneers will conclude the regular fall season on the road, traveling to AIC on Oct. 17 and UConn on Oct. 24.
First Half:
- Norwich wasted no time taking a 7-0 lead in the first minute of the game
- By halftime, the Cadets owned a 68-0 lead on 10 tries and nine good conversions
Second Half:
- After Norwich prevented SHU from reaching the offensive zone in the first half, Mazza put five points on the board for the Pioneers finding the try zone in the first four minutes of the half. Lauryn Kostopoulos's conversion kick was good behind lessening the deficit to 68-7
- Despite the Pioneers spending a considerable amount of time in their offensive zone in the second half, the Cadet took over adding 54 points to their total in the second half with eight tries and eight good conversion kicks
