Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (October 25, 2015)—Rebecca Hauser scores her second goal in as many games Sunday as the Sacred Heart field hockey team dropped the final road game of the season 3-1 at Rider. Senior goalie Mary Altepeter was just one save short of matching her season-best, stopping 15 Bronc shots. The loss drops the Pioneers to 2-13 this season, while Rider improves to 10-6.
Danielle Gallagher led SHU with five shots, four of which were on goal, while Christine Mace put all four of her shots on goal.
SHU returns home to Johnson Field Friday to host Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Day.
First Half:
- Both offenses were in full force in the first half, combining for 26 shots (Rider 16, SHU 10), and all four goals in the period
- All four goals too place in the first 22 minutes of the game
- The Broncs got on the board first in the fifth minute of the game. Shannon Hughes made the short pass to Christine van Egmond during one of Rider's five first-half corners. The freshman knocked it in for her first collegiate goal
- Just under two minutes later, the Pioneers earned a corner. Mace took the corner for SHU passing the ball to Rachel Claroni, who set up Hauser at the top of the circle.
- Carlota Alsina scored the game-winner off a corner in just the eighth minute before Allison Baligian scored her thirteenth goal of the season on a breakaway in the 22nd minute
- Altepeter made 11 of her 15 saves in the first period
Second Half:
- The Pioneers outshot Rider 9-8 in the second half, putting five shots on goal
