Bowling Finished Conference Slate in Third Place

ALTOONA, PA (March 2, 2015)—After going 3-4 in the final Northeast Conference meet of the season, the Sacred Heart bowling team dropped from second to third place in the NEC standings earning a spot in the conference tournament on March 21-22. Jayna Tartaglia came off the bench for SHU to throw four straight 200+ games to lead the team with a 206.0 average for the weekend. Lauren Hoffman was right behind her averaging 197.6 after tossing four 200+ games of her own over all six matches.
The Pioneers suffered three losses to open the tournament against Fairleigh Dickinson, 1051-870, St. Francis Brooklyn, 1000-920, and LIU Brooklyn, 1007-872. They snapped the streak with the 970-596 win over newest NEC member Caldwell behind Hoffman (222), Tartaglia (216) and Sarah Rhodes' (201) 200+ games. Tartaglia led Sacred Heart in the next two matches shooting 202 and 201 in SHU's 921-873 win over Kutztown and 919-905 loss to Adelphi. Hoffman, Tartaglia and Rhodes all shot 205 to in the final match against Saint Francis U (939-903) to send the Pioneers home on a winning note.
Sacred Heart heads to Tennessee this weekend to compete in the Columbia 300 Music City Classic March 6-8.
