Wrestling Falls At Duke 29-14
DURHAM, N.C. – The Sacred Heart wrestling team won four matches Saturday night at Duke, but the Blue Devils took bonus points in its six wins to win the dual meet 29-14.
Patrick Skinner got the Pioneers going Saturday, beating Thayer Atkins at 125 7-6. Duke then won the next five matches to take a 23-3 lead, earning three major decisions. Conan Schuster got Sacred Heart back on track in the 174-pound bout, earning a 16-0 tech fall win over Michael Wright to give the Pioneers five points to make the score 23-8. Elliott Antler followed with a 3-1 win at 184 pounds against Dylan Ryan. At 197 pounds, freshman Sasha Oliinyk had a convincing 9-4 win to make the team score 23-14.
"Skinner, Schuster, Antler, and Oliinyk all had solid wins against a tough Duke team tonight," said head coach Andy Lausier. "We need all 10 guys to perform to their level though."
Sacred Heart wrestles at Davidson Sunday at 1 p.m.
