Box Score HANOVER, N.H. – The Sacred Heart football team lost its second consecutive game Saturday night, falling 49-7 to the Dartmouth Big Green at Memorial Field.
Dartmouth (2-0) amassed 504 yards of total offense, 314 of which came from the arm of quarterback Dalyn Williams. Sacred Heart (2-2) had 348 yards of total offense but turned the ball over five times. Wide Receiver Jackson King had his first career 100-yard receiving game and tied a career-high with six receptions. Quarterback Kevin Duke was 16-for-26 passing for 185 yards in relief of RJ Noel.
The Pioneers now prepare for Northeast Conference play, as Sacred Heart will travel to Robert Morris on October 10th for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
FIRST QUARTER
11:42 to play – Dartmouth 7, SHU 0; Folarin Orimolade falls on a fumbled snap by RJ Noel in the end zone for the Big Green's first touchdown.
8:18 to play – Dartmouth 14, SHU 0; Ryder Stone scores on a one-yard touchdown run to cap a nine-play, 25-yard drive. The Big Green got the football after Nate Chavious fumbled the ball on a kick return.
5:31 to play – Dartmouth 21, SHU 0; Stone and Brian Grove combine for all 71 yards on a two-play scoring drive. Stone's 62-yard run set up Grove's nine-yard touchdown scamper.
SECOND QUARTER
6:17 to play – Dartmouth 28, SHU 0; Big Green quarterback Dalyn Williams runs in a four-yard touchdown to finish off an 11-play, 63-yard drive.
4:03 to play – Dartmouth 35, SHU 0; Williams connects with Victor Williams on a 60-yard pitch and catch after a SHU three-and-out.
THIRD QUARTER
4:23 to play – Dartmouth 35, SHU 7; The Pioneers score their lone touchdown on a one-yard run by Nate Chavious. Duke was 5-for-6 on the drive for 27 yards.
1:00 to play – Dartmouth 42, SHU 7; Stone rushes in his second touchdown of the night from three yards out.
FOURTH QUARTER
9:47 to play – Dartmouth 49, SHU 7; David Caldwell returns a Duke interception 77 yards for a touchdown.
NOTES
- SHU was held under 10 points for the first time since a 35-3 loss at Duquesne on Oct. 20, 2012, a streak of 32 games.
- The Pioneers also lost by more than 40 points for the first time since September 18, 2010 when SHU lost at Saint Francis U 41-0.
- The Sacred Heart defense forced a turnover for the 13th straight game Saturday night.
