Orosco Earns First Win as SHU Splits Wednesday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KISSIMMEE, FL (March 9, 2016)--Emily Orosco (Camarillo, Calif.) stuck out 12 batters en route to her first collegiate win Wednesday closing out the 2016 Rebel Games. The Sacred Heart softball split a pair of eight-inning decisions. After falling to Hampton 3-2, the Pioneers won in walk-off fashion 1-0 against Drexel

Lauren Delgadillo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) went 2-for-4 in the first game of the day knocking in both of SHU's runs in the second inning. The Pioneers got on the board first, but that would be all they got, as the Pirates evened the score in the third before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

The rookie blanked the Dragons through eight innings in the day's latter game. Unfortunately, the Pioneer bats were silenced as well through the first seven innings as they could not push a run across the plate. In the bottom of the eighth after Orosco put Drexel down in order, Hailey Desrosiers (Cypress, Calif.) was placed on second base. The first batter, Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.), hit a sac bunt to move the runner over before a Drexel fielding error allowed the only run SHU needed to score.

Sacred Heart opens the Liberty Softball Classic Friday against Rhode Island at 10:00 a.m.
