Box Score 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (April 23, 2016)—The Sacred Heart softball team was swept by Wagner 2-1 and 4-2 Saturday afternoon on the road. Rookie Hailey Desrosiers (Cypress, Calif.) led the Pioneers going 4-for-8 at the plate through two games, knocking in a run in the first game, and scoring in the second.
The losses drop SHU to 11-29-2 on the season and 2-8 against Northeast Conference opponents heading into the final home games of the year. The Pioneers return home Sunday afternoon to host Fairleigh Dickinson in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Prior to the start of game one, Sacred Heart will honor its five graduating seniors.

Game 1:
How It Happened:
- After stranding five runners through the first four innings, SHU got on the board first in the top of the fifth as two Wagner errors brought Hannah Ford (New Fairfield, Conn.) around to score after the sophomore ripped a double to right centerfield
- The Seahawks evened the score in the bottom of the inning as Hana Gilbert led off with a solo homerun
- Wagner scored the go-ahead in the bottom of the sixth. Lauren Serrato led off the inning with a single and came home on Karen Prihoda's double
SHU Highlights:
- Desrosiers and Lauren Delgadillo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) both went 2-for-4 at the plate
- Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) got the loss after striking out nine batters through 5.1 innings
For the Foes:
- Prihoda went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single, including the game-winning RBI
- Morgan Brown got the win after pitching 6.1, only allowing SHU one run
Game 2:
How It Happened:
- Wagner's Maddie Marable's second-inning lead off homerun was the game's only run through the first three innings until SHU took the lead in the top of the fourth
- Desrosiers, Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.), Fallon Bevino (Milford, Conn.) and Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.) smacked four consecutive singles to start off the fourth inning. D'Addario's evened the score as Desrosiers scored easily. After Seahawks' starter McKaleigh Goodale got two Pioneers to strike out, Linsey DeDomenico (Northford, Conn.) worked her for a walk forcing Fillmore in
- The Wagner lineup came back for vengeance in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out rally. With two down, Serrato lifted a homerun to knot the score at two. Behind her Gilbert singled and came home on Jessica Carlucci's homerun
SHU Highlights:
- Desrosiers and Fillmore each collected two hits in four at bats
- Emily Orosco (Camarillo, Calif.) and Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) combined to pitch six innings, each striking out four batters
For the Foes:
- Marable, Serrato and Carlucci all hit homeruns off Pioneer pitchers
- Carlucci went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI
