Rugby Earns First Win 45-10 At Castleton

CASTLETON, VT. - The Sacred Heart women's rugby team improved to 1-1 as they defeated the Castleton Spartan's on the road 45-10 on Saturday.
The Spartans took the lead early with a try by Casey Comeau, but the Pioneers would quickly answer back with a try of their own, scored by Emily Mignoni. Sacred Heart would make the conversion kick and would take the lead 7-5.
Castleton would then take the lead back for the final time with try by Kayleigh Daniels fifteen minutes into the match. The Pioneers would regain and hold onto the lead with 24 consecutive points, with three tries by Charlotte Tallman, a pair of tries from Kaylee Hale and a try from Allie Rinaldi. Kaylee Hale successfuly kicked 4 of 6 conversions.
In the start of the second half, Sunny Ravert would score the Pioneers final try of the game, assisted by Charlotte Tallman. Kaylee Hale would make the conversion kick, putting Sacred Heart up 45-10 on the Spartans.
The match was called 20 minutes early due to safety concerns.
The Pioneers will continue their season when they face West Chester University on September 17 at 12 p.m.
