Women's Cross Country Takes Second At Father Bede Invitational

LORETTO, Pa. – The Sacred Heart women's cross country team opened its 2016 season with a second place finish at the Father Bede Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis U at Immergrun Golf Course.
Freshman Jody DiCicco had the Pioneers' top finish on Friday, taking third in the 5K race with a time of 19:51. Junior Tara Connelly was fifth in 20:10. Meghan Hutch was the third SHU runner in the top-10, taking seventh in a time of 20:26. Kelly Quinn finished 11th in a time of 20:37, and Kate Svensen rounded out the scoring for SHU with a 12th place finish in 20:38.
The Pioneers finished with 38 points, taking second behind the host Red Flash who scored 30 points. Central Connecticut was third with 94 points.
SHU is next in action on Sept. 10 in the UMass Minuteman Invitational.
