Box Score Shelton, CT. – The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team fired three goals past Saint Michael's in a 3-1 win on Friday evening.
Despite Sacred Heart (13-8-1) having 11 shots to Saint Michael's (0-13-0) 7 both goalies producing good saves in a goaless first period.
Taylor Moreland opened the scoring for SHU after just 31 seconds of the second period, assisted by Maddie Bishop and katie Stueve to give the Pioneers the lead.
Stueve was involved again in SHU's second goal this time with the goal, unassisted at the 3:39 mark to extend SHU's lead in the second period. Saint Michael's would respond a few minutes later at 05:57 with a goal from Arianna Boscia, assisted by Erin Dwyer.
In a cagey third period which saw Saint Michael's pushing to draw level, SHU would hold thre nerve and even add a third goal in the last minute of play at 19:39 again through Taylor Moreland after some great work from Katie Stueve with the assist.
SHU outshot Saint Michael's 25 to 18, Devan Kane had 18 saves on the night with Saint Michael's Tina Frasca the busier of the two goalies with 24 saves
