Meet Results
The Sacred Heart University swimming and diving team opened the 2017 portion of its schedule with a 118-83 victory over Manhattan College. The victory improves the Pioneers to 6-1 in dual action this season.
The Pioneers had six double winners on the afternoon, including Shanna Haddow who earned her first-ever individual win, capturing the 1,000 freestyle. SHU captured the top two spots in the 200 medley relay and had the two fastest 400 freestyle relays times as well.
The victory moved head coach John Spadafina atop the Pioneers all-time win list in swimming and diving history.
SHU returns to action next Saturday, travelling to crosstown rival Fairfield for a 2 p.m. contest
Distance
- Haddow posted an 11:23.06 as she captured her first-ever individual win, 10 seconds clear of the runner up
- Kim Hylan completed the SHU distance sweep with a victory in the 500 freestyle, touching at 5:26.89
Sprint Freestyle
- Jillian Crosby (2:00.56) and Hylan (2:00.58) touched first and second in a thrilling 200 freestyle
- Lauren Somers continued to swim well, just missing a pool record in winning the 100 freestyle in a time of 52.86
- Caleigh Dion posted the top time in the 50 freestyle, 25.68
- Olivia Decas finished second in the 100 free, 55.79, while Victoria Catizone placed third in the 50, 26.20
Strokes
- Anna Brown earned the top spot in the 100 backstroke, in a time of 1:00.98, with Renee Russo in second place
- Jessica Poole won the 100 breaststroke, touching at 1:10.01
- Nikole Rudis placed second in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:02.8
