EDISON, N.J. – Sophia Velleco of the Sacred Heart University Women's Swimming and Diving Team has earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimmer of the Week honors.

The award follows a successful week in the pool for Velleco. Despite the team result, she delivered an outstanding performance by winning three individual events at the meet. Her efforts highlighted another strong week as she continued to post some of the top times in the MAAC.

This week, Velleco recorded the fastest time in the conference in the 200 butterfly. In addition, her times in both the 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly currently rank as the fastest in the MAAC.

Her performance in the 200 butterfly stood out even more, as it was the quickest time among all MAAC swimmers this week.

The Pioneers will travel to Bridgeport this weekend to face the Purple Knights and the Fairfield University Stags.
