MILFORD, CONN. — The Sacred Heart University women's swimming and diving team honored its four senior student-athletes — Emma Davis, Charlotte Kaduson, Daniella Palamaro, and Leila Sofiane — on Saturday afternoon before falling to Central Connecticut State, 190–163.
Sacred Heart opened the meet on a high note, capturing first place in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Kristen Baker, Maggie Holland, Emma Haas, and Emma Davis touched the wall in 1:50.47 to set the tone early. Maddie Goret followed with a strong performance in the 400-yard individual medley, earning first place with a time of 4:42.63.
Sophia Velleco continued her standout day by winning the 100-yard freestyle in 53.31, later adding another first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.41. On the diving boards, first-year Ryleigh Mahoney claimed the top spot in the 1-meter event with a score of 272.85, while Sinclair Yadao secured second place, posting a 268.05.
Additional podium finishes for the Pioneers included Goret's second-place effort in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.60) and a runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay by Holland, Haas, Davis, and Velleco, who combined for a time of 3:39.74.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday at 3 p.m., traveling to Bridgeport for a tri-meet against Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport.
