The Sacred Heart Women's Ice Hockey team took a resounding 6-1 victory Saturday evening against a strong Stevenson University team.  After a heated battle in the first period Jayne Lewis opended the scoring off the power play, assisted by Olivia Bryant and Amie Varano, for what would be the start of a great night for the Pioneers. 

The second period was a goal fest and the Pioneers would see out a comfortable victory . Morland added her first and second of the night after assists, both via the powerplay, with assists from Lewis and Hersey at the 5.11 and 10.25 marks respectively. 

Steveson University tried to mount a comeback after Jordan Pirello fired in a goal at the 10.34 mark, but the away team would stamp down their dominance for the remainder of the game.

Sacred Heart finished the night with goals from Lewis, who completed her hat trick, Bittany Smith and Haley Payne. The victory was complete and Sacred Heart left Maryland with a 6-1 victory.

Next up for the Pioneers is a home encounter with Lebanon Valley at 7.30pm on Friday Jan. 27.
