
Pioneers Take Care of Molloy, 81-12

SEAFORD, NY – In their second matchup this season, the Sacred Heart women's rugby team made easy work of host Molloy, 81-12, at Cedar Creek Park, Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers end a two-game drought and elevate their season clip to 3-2 while the Lions fall to 3-2-1 overall.
Allie Rinaldi spearheaded the Pioneer's offense with four tries while the SHU defense disallowed any scoring from the foe for nearly 63 minutes of play building a 57-nill lead. Kaylee Hale recorded seven conversions in the contest. Molloy's try by Sabrina Rodriguez at the 8:47 mark and conversion by Nizabeta Deljanin, commenced scoring for the host, 57-7. However, the Pioneers would go on to outscore the Lions 26-5 for the victory.
The Scoring
- Rinaldi (13:13) and Isabel Cuddy (9:33) and tallied the first quarter's only tries for the 12-nill early lead. Camryn Chester successfully completed a conversion.
- Rinaldi opened scoring in the second quarter pinning a 17-point deficit to Molloy, 17-0.
- LeAnn Bauer, off of a bad tackle, and Chester, off of an unlucky kick, made way for a 29-0 lead.
- Cuddy and Hale added points for SHU on a respective try and conversion with 5:18 to go before the intermission, 36-0.
- Margaret Woods (18:30), Chester (17:45) and Jillian Pichard-Busky (12:58) added to the Pioneer's convincing control, 57-0. Hale recorded conversions on two of those sequences.
- Rodriguez's try and Deljanin's conversion at the 8:47 mark put the host on the board, 57-7.
- Another Rinaldi try and Hale conversion, right as the third quarter, ended extended SHU's lead, 64-7.
- Rinaldi registered her fourth try of the afternoon (16:27) and Hale's try in the 11th minute put the match at 78-7.
- Tessa Buckey wrapped up the visitors' scoring with her try with 5:47 behind the final buzzer. Her try made way for an 83-7 advantage.
- Molloy rounded out scoring at Cedar Creek Park on Sabrina Rodriguez's try with just 44 ticks left in the game as she settled the 83-12 final.
The Pioneers return home and host LIU Post next Saturday, October 21 at noon.
