Pioneers Win In Dramatic Fashion At Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University football team severed a four-game drought owning Robert Morris, 21-14 in a road Northeast Conference thriller, Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. Khaamal Whitaker's interception resulting in a touchdown for the Pioneers' put the visitors in front and mounted an advantage the Colonials would fail to combat. The Pioneers level their league clip to 1-1 while the hosts have now tacked on their second loss of the conference season.

The Numbers…

Sacred Heart's Kevin Duke edge the foe's Jimmy Walker in passing yards, 189-187. Byron Barney led all with 135 receiving yards. Jordan Meachum (10), Jaylin DeVeau (29) and Andrew O'Neill (15) tallied in the category. On the defensive end, Joshua Turner and Parvelus registered 10 tackles each while Turner added a sack to his arsenal. Whitaker and Kevin Barry recorded seven and five, respectively.

09:36 2Q – SHU 0, RMU 3: A 31-yard field by RMU's Nick Bisceglia opened the scoring.

00:00 2Q – SHU 0, RMU 6: Bisceglia casted another field goal kick, again from 31 yards, to give the Colonials a 6-0 advantage.

09:23 4Q – SHU 7, RMU 6: Meachum capped the scoring drive with a 14-yard rush to get the Pioneers on the board and Freiria's ensuing PAT put the Pioneers in front.

09:14 4Q – SHU 7, RMU 14: RMU retook the lead on the ensuing kick-off as Harrison Dreher returning it 100 yards for the touchdown and the lead.

6:39 4Q – SHU 14, RMU 14: A Duke pass was completed by Barney for 19-yards and a touchdown and Freiria's successful PAT tied thes core at 14-14.

00:12 4Q – SHU 21, RMU 14: Walker's pass was interrupted by Whitaker at the RMU 46 and he returned it untouched to  the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown. Freiria's point to follow was good to settle the final at Joe Walton Stadium.

The Pioneers return home for a noon clash against Duquesne next Saturday, October 28.
