Box Score PAWTUCKET, RI – The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team built a lead that Johnson & Wales University couldn't overcome, winning 8-2 on Saturday.
Sacred Heart improved to 2-2 for the year while Johnson & Wales starts the year at 0-2.
SHU's Taylor Moreland scored just 1:45 into the game. The Pioneers added a Jayne Lewis goal just 84 seconds before the intermission. Moreland scored again in the second period then got the hat trick with a goal at the 3:13 mark of the third period.
The Pioneers shared the goals around with Lilly Cleary, Meghan Kebalaka and Victoria Grimmer completing the scoring for SHU.
Sophomore Julia Martinsson scored both of JWU's goals in the third period. Her first goal came at the 5:05 mark then she took a pass from Kathryn Mason and scored in the 13th minute.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday November 3. hosting Post at 8 pm
