Fairfield, Conn.— Following a stellar performance at the Nutmeg Classic against Quinnipiac, senior goaltender
Jillian Petruno has been named New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) goaltender of the week as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Petruno earned the start against Quinnipiac, a top ten team in the nation, and she did not disappoint. Despite the 2–0 loss, she kept the Pioneers in the game all night long. She faced an incredible 60 shots and allowed just two goals, recording a career-high 58 saves. Petruno finished the night with an impressive .966 save percentage.
Petruno is looking to carry that high level of play into a busy week featuring three conference matchups. With a month-long break right after, she'll aim to close out the first half of the season on a high note.
