
Sacred Heart Bests Castleton For Second Time This Season, 67-22

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Sacred Heart women's rugby team benefitted from seven different scorers en route to their 67-22 road defeat of Castleton, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Pioneers have now beaten the Spartans twice this season and improve to 4-2 on the year. The host drop to 0-7-1.
Kaylee Hale and Camryn Chester each tallied four times. While Hale's scoring came from conversions, Chester managed to net two tries while adding a pair of conversions. Isabel Cuddy credited three tries while Allie Rinaldi (2), Kaitlin Lagase (2), LeAnn Bauer and Tyffany Brisbane rounded out the Pioneers' scoring.
Rinaldi (2), Brisbane (2), Tyhira Houston, Tessa Buckey and Gabrielle Moffat provided helpers.
The Scoring
- Rinaldi (try) opened the scoring at Alumni field with Houston registering the assist for the quick five-point advantage in the fourth minute.
- Cuddy doubled the visitors' lead with a try provided by Buckey at the 10:34 mark.
- Allison Lane (try) and Julia May (conversion) filled in some of Castleton's deficit as they settled the 10-7 first quarter score.
- Sierra Ostrow-Remy supplied the go-ahead try from teammate Mariah Jollie awarding the Spartans a two-point edge at 11:26, 12-10.
- Chester (try, 13:57), Hale (conversion, 14:50) and Bauer (try, 16:40) put a double-digit lead into SHU's possession by the break, 22-12.
- Ostrow-Remy commenced the third quarter's scoring by registering a try in the seventh minute.
- Lagase contributed a pair of tries in the third, one at the 10:40 mark and the second just 25 ticks before the quarter buzzer sounded. Rinaldi helped on the first for the 27-17 Pioneers' advantage.
- Hale added two conversions separated by three minutes time, the second opening a 36-17 advantage at 15:30. Rinaldi (try) and Brisbane (assist) tallied at 14:30 of the third.
- Ostrow-Remy rounded out scoring for the hosts with her try at 1:30 in the fourth quarter. Katey Harris helped on the play, 41-22.
- Brisbane (try) and Rinaldi (assist) got SHU on the board again late in the fourth minute, 46-22.
- At the six-minute mark, Hale added a conversion for the Pioneers resulting in the 48-22 score.
- Cuddy (two tries) and Chester (two conversions and a try) wrapped up scoring for the afternoon by 15:43 of the fourth.
The Pioneers return home and host AIC next Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 am in their season finale.
