The Sacred Heart Pioneers travelled to Hamden, Connecticut to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a double header. The Pioneers played a defensive battle with the Bobcats in the opening game, where they went on to fall 1-0 in extra innings. The Pioneers struggled at the plate for the pair of games as they fell in the final game 4-0.  Noteworthy-

Quinnipiac 1              Sacred Heart 0

  • It was a defensive battle in the opening of the doubleheader as the Pioneers threatened in the first inning. The Pioneers were held scoreless in the ten innings, with the Bobcats finally getting on the board in the bottom of the tenth, after a lead off single, followed by a sacrifice bunt, and another single to bring in the winning run
  • Lauren Delgadillo had a day at the plate, going 2 for 4. Delgadillo's first at bat was a single to center field, to advance Andrea Sidor into scoring position. Delgadillo's second hit of the game came in the top of the 6th, where she singled to right field.
  • Jamie Carlson went the distance, pitching 9.2 innings. Carlson struck out a season high 15 batters, allowing the lone run in the tenth inning. Carlson's ERA is a 1.96 on the season

Quinnipiac 4              Sacred Heart 0

  • The Bobcats took no time in the second game, putting two runs on the board in the opening inning. Quinnipiac would also have a big inning in the second, putting an additional two runs on the board, which would extend the lead to 4-0, and hold to take the 4-0 win
  • Victoria D'Addario shinned in the second game, going 2 for 3 at the plate, with a single in the top of the second, and an additional single in the top of the 7th
  • Kristen McCann took the loss on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing the four runs, and striking out two Bobcats. Emily Orosco came in to finish the game, chucking for 4.1 innings, striking out four batters, and allowing three hits.
