After the Knights switched pitchers, Brown stepped up to deliver a hooking two RBI double down the left field line to put the score at 10-7. Ryan Brennan delivered a two-run home run off junior Ethan Lonardelli in the top of the seventh to push the FDU lead back to five.

The Knights added one more run in the top of the ninth on the RBI single by Bobby Romano. SHU didn't go down quietly as Klebart opened the ninth with a single and then advanced to second on a throwing error by Romano. Shaw followed in the next at bat with a bunt single to third, advancing Klebart. A wild pitch by Brennan would score Klebart from third. After freshman Austin Markmann was hit by a pitch, DeFilippo dropped a single to right field to load of the bases with no outs.
