Kate Svensen Wins Individual Title At Stony Brook Season Opener
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior Kate Svensen won her first individual cross country title Saturday, winning the Stony Brook Season Opener as the SHU women's cross country team opened its 2017 season.
Svensen bested a field of 32 other competitors in the 4k race in 13:50.4. Freshman Bonnie Wilder was the second Pioneer to cross the finish line, taking 16th place in her collegiate debut with a time of 15:02.2. Sophomore Delaney Kimball was 19th in 15:15.6, with Gabrielle Vega (24th – 15:31.7) and Kelly Arsenault (26th – 15:35.5) rounding out the SHU scoring group.
The Pioneers were fourth as a team behind Stony Brook, Fordham, and Quinnipiac.
SHU next competes at the UMass Invitational on Sept. 9.
