Shelton, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team defeated Post University 10-0 on Friday night at the SportsCenter of Connecticut in Shelton.
 
Sacred Heart put the game away with seven goals in the first period from seven different scorers. Taylor Moreland opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the game, assisted by Julianna Lynch. At the 4:10 mark, Lilly Cleary added a second for SHU. Jayne Lewis, Brittani Mingoia, Brittany Smith, Lexi Edwards and Haley Payne completed the scoring in the first period.

In the second period Smith added her second of the game assisted by Meghan Kebalka. Kebalka scored her first of the game for SHU's 9th. Then Smith added her third, completing her hatrick for SHU's tenth and final goal of the game.

Kayla Walewski stopped 10 shots after taking over for classmate Devan Kane, who made 7 stops.
 
Sacred Heart and Post will square off again tomorrow in Shelton. Puck drops at 4 p.m.
