
Sacred Heart Races at NCAA Northeast Regionals

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart women's cross country team placed 29th on Friday afternoon at the 2018 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championships. The six-kilometer race featured the schools of the Northeast Region, which includes some of the top teams and runners in the nation.
Four Ivy League schools dominated the top of the field, with Columbia (41 points) taking the team championship, followed by Dartmouth (88), Yale (94) and Cornell (120).
- Junior Jacqueline Thorne led the pack of seven SHU runners with a 143rd place time of 24:18.9.
- Junior Jody DiCicco (24:25.5) placed second on the team, followed by first-year Gaelyn Kattman (24:26.3) to round out the top three.
- Junior Bianca De Lucia (24:52.5) was the fourth Pioneer to cross the finish line, with Olivia Weiss (25:50.7) finishing out the team's top five.
- Senior Emma Cary (25:56.6) also represented SHU at the regional, along with sophomore Brigit Kelly (26:19.6).
Next up on the schedule for Sacred Heart is the ECAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx.
