
Rugby Defeats Castleton 3-0

The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team finished the fall portion of its schedule with a 3-0 win over Castleton on Park Avenue Field. The win improves the Pioneers to 3-5, while the Spartans fall to 2-7.
Game Notes:
- The team's played 10 v 10, with three 20-minute matches
- Each match was a point, with SHU winning all three to earn the 3-0 victory
Match 1: SHU 45, Castleton 0
- Isabel Keller wasted little time putting the Pioneers in front, with a try 55 seconds into the match
- Keller would score a second try in the final minute of the match
- McKenzie Jumper scored twice, at 2:40 and 7:35
- Sophie Hale, Lydia Grist-Manrique and Samantha Carroll provided the other tries for SHU
- Kaylee Hale converted 5-7 conversions in the first match
- Sophie Hale and Keller both made two runs of 20 in the win
- Julia Mag made a match-best six tackles for Castleton
Match 2: SHU 22, Castleton 10
- Stephanie Wilson scored 30 seconds into the second match, giving the Pioneers a 5-0 lead
- Novah Coe answered 4:05 later, tying the match 5-5
- The Pioneers took the lead for good with a penalty try at the 6:50 mark
- Mag finished the first-half scoring for Castleton, at 9:02, bringing the Spartans within two, 12-10 at the break
- The Pioneers blanked Castleton in the second half, with tries from Jumper and Keller for the final margin
- Mag again led all players, with five tackles, and had two ROT's
- Carroll led the Pioneers with three tackles in the match
- The Pioneers had five ROT's in the match, from five different players
Match 3: SHU 22, Castleton 0
- Kaylee Hale scored the lone try of the first-half, at the 5:53 mark
- Sophie Hale struck 2:35 into the second-half, for a 10-0 Pioneer advantage
- Emily Egan scored at 1624 and Keller wrapped up the scoring at the 18:11 mark
- Wilson led the Pioneers defensively, with three tackles
