PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Tennis team defeated Providence this afternoon by a final score of 4-3. The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 31 when SHU travels to face Seton Hall. Matches begin at 5:00 p.m. 

In singles play junior Brianne Lauria would defeat Haley Gurski 6-1, 6-3 while fellow junior Adrianne Alfonso picked up a victory as well defeating Natalie Pitocco 6-2, 4-6, 6-0. The juniors would round out the singles with a victory also coming from Maggie Glynn as she defeated Grace Goyette 7-5, 6-1.

In doubles play the duo of Lauria and sophomore Lauren Santarsiero would defeat Mimi Dailey and Haley Gurski 6-1 while Alfonso and first-year Macy Wardius defeated Natlie Pitocco and Grace Goyette 6-1 to earn the Pioneers fifth win of the season.
