Baseball Drops Home Doubleheader Contests vs. Fairleigh Dickinson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University baseball team dropped both doubleheader contests against Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday, falling in game one 7-3 and dropping game two 13-3. The Pioneers moved to 16-28 on the season and 8-10 in the NEC, while Fairleigh Dickinson moved to 15-30-1 and 9-9 in NEC-play.

GAME 1 NOTES (FDU 7, SHU 3):

  • Ryan LaMay got the start and took the loss after surrendering four runs on 10 hits and striking out three in six innings of work

  • Dan Fallacaro, Jake Frasca and Trevor Fagan drove in a run apiece in the loss

  • Justin Jordan went 4-for-5 with a double

  • The Knights struck first after plating a run in the second to take a 1-0 lead

  • The Pioneers tied the contest at 1-1 after Fagan drilled an RBI single to center in the fourth inning

  • FDU tallied three runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead

  • Fallacaro cut the SHU deficit to 4-2 with an RBI single in the sixth

  • The Knights responded with a run of their own in the seventh and two runs in the eighth inning to push its lead to 7-2

  • Frasca drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth to bring the deficit to 7-3

  • Baylor Sundahl got the start and took the loss after giving up seven runs on seven hits and striking out seven in five innings of work

  • Elijah Brown went 1-for-2 with an RBI

  • Trevor Fagan went 1-for-2 with a 2-run double

  • Alex Perry went 2-for-4 with a run scored

  • Noah Centeno, Steve Schoen and Dan Fallacaro added a hit apiece in the loss

  • The Knights struck first for three runs in the top of the first for a swift 3-0 lead

  • The Pioneers trimmed the FDU lead to 3-1 in the second after Brown drove in Fallacaro on an RBI groundout

  • FDU tallied three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to extend its lead to 8-1

  • The Knights plated five runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 13-1

  • Fagan drilled a two-run double to left to bring the score to 13-3

UPCOMING GAMES

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, May 10, when SHU travels to take on Mount St. Mary's at noon.
