Quinnipiac wore down the Sacred Heart defense by peppering it with shots. The Bobcats had 109 shots, 68 on goal. SHU's defenders also blocked 26 shots.
Keeping the Pioneers in the game was goaltender Frankie Sanchez as she made a career-high 62 saves.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two periods by registering 50 shots on goal, compared to five by the visitors.
The Pioneers broke through for their first goal in the third period. Sophie Lupone scored off the pass from Cassandra Nevers and Kennedy Spiering. The third period was closer with the Bobcats holding an 18-15 advantage in shots.
