COLCHESTER, VT- The Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey team notched its twelfth straight win of the year as the Pioneers shutout Saint Michael's by a final score of 5-0. The Pioneers look to end the regular season on a high note as they aim for the series sweep tomorrow at the Purple Knights at 1:05 p.m.

First Period 

• The Pioneers dominated the first period as they outshot the Purple Knights 14-7 in the period.
• SHU took 14 faceoff wins while Saint Michael's tallied 10.
• The Pioneers were the lone side to jump on the board as sophomore Anna Klein cashed in her 12^th goal of the year as she caught onto the loose puck out front and knocked it in to give SHU a 1-0 lead 15:00 into the period.

Second Period

• The Pioneers continued their strong offensive attack as SHU outshot Saint Michael's 22-5 in the period.
• SHU dominated the power-play opportunities in the period as SHU went 3-4 on the man-advantage in the period alone.
• The first goal of the period came off the stick of senior Jayne Lewis off a pair of assists by first-year Alexa Ocel and senior Olivia Bryant just 2:01 into the period to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0.
• That wasn't the only power-play goal for the Pioneers as in the final five minutes the SHU capitalized again this time off the stick senior Maddie Bishop off a pair of assists by first-year Rachel DeLong and sophomore Kennedy Spiering 14:55 into the period to put SHU ahead 3-0.
• Then in the closing seconds of the period 19:40 in, while SHU was on a five-on-three advantage, Klein netted her second goal of the game on a smooth backhand shot to send the Pioneers into the third period with a solid 4-0 lead. Assists were credited to Jayne Lewis and sophomore Kelly Solak.

Third Period 

• The Pioneers maintained control of the game in the third period as SHU outshot the Purple Knights 26-7.
• SHU tallied their fifth goal of the game courtesy of sophomore Anna Klein as she nailed her first career hat-trick off a pair of assists by Jayne Lewis and sophomore Nicole Guidi to give the Pioneers a 5-0 lead while the team was shorthanded 6:13 into the period.
• SHU's defense was able to prevent the Purple Knights from scoring a single goal in the game as sophomore goalie Frankie Sanchez tallied 19 saves on 19 shots faced.
• SHU skated away with the 5-0 shutout which is the team's fourth shutout of the year.

Notes 

• Sophomore Anna Klein tallied her first career hat-trick as she racked up three goals for three points.
• Senior Jayne Lewis also had a three point evening as she tallied a goal and two assists which makes her tied for first in program history in career points with 139.
• With the win, SHU continues its longest win streak in program history with 12.
• SHU improves to 20-10 overall and 17-2 in NEWHA play.
