MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey team season came to a close this afternoon as the #1 seeded Pioneers fell to #4 seed LIU this afternoon by a final score of 3-0. SHU concludes its season with a 21-11-0 overall record.

First Period

• The Pioneers outshot the Sharks 17-12 in the period.
• LIU got on the board early coming just 1:00 into the period off the stick of Paula Bergstrom from Matilda Af Bjur and Megan Bouveur to give LIU an early 1-0 lead.
• Then in the closing minutes of the period while the team was shorthanded, LIU took a 2-0 lead off a goal in the open by Renee Hoffmann to send LIU with a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the second period.

Second Period

• The Pioneers continued a trying offensive attack in the second period as they outshot LIU 15-9.
• But once again it would be the Sharks that capitalized in the period as a goal by Carrigan Umpherville off an assist by Renee Hoffmann 9:25 into the period gave LIU a commanding 3-0 lead.
• SHU had two opportunities to get on the board on the power-play but were unsuccessful in slipping any goal passed the goalie Kenzie Harmison.

Third Period

• Neither side was able to tally a goal in the period as the Pioneers continued firing shots as they attempted nine shots on goal by LIU was able to just fire off five.
• Neither side had a power-play opportunity in the period resulting in tough five on five play for the period.
• SHU was aggressive but just couldn't find the back net resulting in the Pioneers falling to #4 LIU 3-0.

Notes

• The Pioneers 13 game win streak came to a close as SHU concludes its season with a 21-11-0 overall record.
• Sophomore goalie Frankie Sanchez tallied 18 saves on 21 shots faced in the game.
