Box Score The Sacred Heart University baseball team dropped a 6-1 decision in the final game of its opening weekend series at VCU. The Pioneers fall to 1-2 on the year, while the Rams improve to 5-2.
SHU returns to action on Tuesday, when it is slated for a 3:00 pm game at Fordham.
Pitching Lines
- Jake Kramer suffered the loss in the start for the Pioneers, allowing four runs on three hits in 2.2 innings of work
- He fanned three batters and walked four
- Luke Hansen allowed one hit in 4.0 innings of work, allowing two runs and fanning three
- David Aufiero worked the final 1.1 innings, fanning one and not allowing a base runner
- Danny Watson earned the victory for VCU, fanning five in his 2.1 innings of one-hit relief

At the Plate
- The two squads combined for only nine hits on Sunday, with nine combined walks
- Kyle Oliver led the Pioneers with a 2-4 effort at the plate

- Hogan Brown led VCU's offense with a 3-4, three RBI afternoon, including a homerun – the only extra base hit of the game
How it Happened
- Jordan led off the game with a single, his second consecutive game with a leadoff hit
- He came around to score when Danny Glendon lofted a ball to left field that was misplayed, giving SHU a 1-0 lead
- The Rams got the run back in the bottom of the first as Tyler Locklear's sac fly plated Paul Witt
- Brown homered to right center in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs, to put the Rams in front 4-1
- Witt provided the sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh, plating Steven Carpenter
- Brett Young crossed the plate in that same inning on a wild pitch, to round out the scoring
