
Women's Basketball Hosts St. Francis On Senior Day

The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team hosts Senior Day when it welcomes St. Francis Brooklyn to Coach Bike Court, Saturday at 1 p.m. The Pioneers enter the game having won its last outing, and tied for the fifth seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament. The Terriers had a two-game win streak snapped it their last outing and are currently in the 9th spot in the tournament chase, two games behind the four-way tie for fifth that the Pioneers are in with Wagner, Bryant and LIU.
The Pioneers will recognize and celebrate the careers of Ally Murphy and Madison Cheatham at 12:45, prior to the contest. The two members of the Pioneers senior class have led the program to 59 wins and a pair of WNIT appearances.
Saturday's game will feature contrasting styles, as SHU allows 64.6 points per game, and the Terriers allow 73 a game. St. Francis scores at a 64.7 point per game clip, while SHU averaged 57.5 a game. When the two teams met in in Brooklyn on February 1, the Terriers came away with a 71-70 victory, behind a 30-point effort from Ally Lassen. That victory stopped a two-game SHU win streak in the series.
The Pioneers had their fifth come from behind win versus Bryant on February 23. The Pioneers trailed by double-digits in the fourth quarter, 44-33. SHU outscored Bryant 19-5 in that final period to earn the win. SHU now has a 57-point scoring advantage in the fourth-quarter, outscoring opponents 450-393 in the final stanza of play.
