NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Despite
Christiana Constantino knotting the game, 1-1, in the second quarter, the Sacred Heart University's field hockey team fell short in its last home game of the season. The Pioneers dropped a 2-1 contest against Wagner on Sunday.
The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead with two minutes remaining in the first quarter as the result of a penalty corner.
Constantino took advantage of Senior Night with a last-second goal off the stick of
Isabelle Chamberlain to even the score going into the half. The senior capitalized off a penalty corner and leads the team with two goals.
With four minutes remaining in the final quarter, Wagner pulled ahead of the home team and slapped in the eventual game-winning goal.
Kayla Kruk recorded her first career defensive save in her last home game as a Pioneer, followed by newcomer
Gabriella Armesto who also tallied one.
